Hello first blog of the year, and i have so many more to do. The first two weeks of calculus went by very well i thought. I'm liking the fact that we have calculus first hour because we can get started early in homeroom and i can get started early on my homework and hopefully most of the time finish it in first hour. The first week in calculus we went over everything that we did before the summer break. We had to use a chart and find the y value.
EX: Find the limit x-4/x^2-3x-4
x approches 4
x 3.9 3.99 3.999 x 4.001 4.01 4.1
f(x)2.2449 20.24 200.24 -1.765 -19.76 -199.8
Approaching infinity approaching negative infinity
The chart is used when you cant simply plug in the number to get the limit. The chart is the longest way but it useually gets you to a close and exact answer.
When you dont use the chart we use different methods. The simpliest form is just plugging in. The second way is to factor.
EX:lim (2x^2+4x+1)
X approches -3 LIM=7
Sometimes you may have to use the rational root thorem.
The only problem i have right now is graphing the chrats because i having problems drawing it correctly.
